After the Bell Rings
Elaine Tao GGC Final
- Autobiographical Character - same character from the second graded assignment, set in the School Year games.
- CharNG used in one passage to give a staggered, poetic feeling to the description of waking up in the classroom in the beginning.
You had fallen asleep in class. Odd it is that no one had decided
to wake you up.
Not even the teacher, it
seems. From the looks of it,
it hasn't just been a few hours since school ended, either.
You open your bag.
- Googlism used to describe the state of the umbrella.
- Crowdsourcing - had various people contribute to the choices after facing off with Mikudayo - they wrote down the scenarios loosely and I changed bits of wording so that the overall flow would work with the game.
- n+7 was used in one sentence to show the disorientation of the autobiographical character by purposefully having them speak a sentence with substituted words.
- Transcription (Otter.ai) was used just for me to read out the story - it resulted in a more storybook feel. I edited certain parts the transcript did not pick up correctly.
- Oblique Strategies was used to determine how I would write this story. The choices were : Is there something missing?, Tape over mouth, Cut a vital connection, What mistakes did you do the first time, and Do nothing for as long as possible.
- Botnik.org was used to generate the name for this game.
- Anagram Generator was used for Mikudayo's name so as to create another dialogue branch that the player could venture into.
